Back at the beginning of being a solo entrepreneur and working off a $1,000/month investment budget, I found myself doing a lot of work that wasn’t in alignment with my real super powers. I hoped it would only be for a short time that I would be stretching myself so thin.
As a ballerina for 20 years growing up I knew a thing or two about sacrifice and discipline. 🙂
Three years later I found myself still working hard and still not making the kind of money I wanted. I was frustrated and overwhelmed.
As I started to look around me I noticed a lot of other women entrepreneurs struggling with the same issues:
- Working too hard for too little money
- Doing everything themselves
- Frustrated by not getting ahead or not having things work
Finding a GREAT Reason Why
It wasn’t until I got really clear about what I wanted and what I didn’t want that I managed to turn things around.
I wasn’t until I realized I’d rather spend an hour playing with my boys, snuggled up with my honey or allocating some desperately needed some self-care time, did I get serious about building a team.
Now I’ve got a team of graphic designers, copywriters, website programmers, social media community builders, mentors, mastermind buddies, a housekeeper, a personal trainer, an energy healer and many more.
Is it Time for You?
Having coached hundreds of women entrepreneurs to build bigger businesses and have bigger lives I’ve discerned there are 3 sure-fire ways to know it’s time to get serious about building a team:
- You Know What You Don’t Want – This includes things like: accounting, twitter friend following, posting blogs, editing copy, cleaning your home or office, doing any sort of data entry work.
- You Know What You DO Want – This one was a little harder but the more beneficial to get clear about. Knowing what you want includes things like: who an ideal client is, what you’re good at, what you want to spend your time doing
- You Choose Sanity – It’s insane to think that you can keep doing the same things and get a different result. What got you here won’t get you to the next level in life or your business. It’s a choice.
The first objection I remember running into when I was told by my mentor to “get a team” was How Am I Going to Pay for Them? and I remember feeling quite hopeless at the inevitable doom cycle…
If I didn’t get help, I wouldn’t be able to free myself up to do the important things in my business (get clients) BUT if I didn’t get more clients then I wouldn’t be able to pay for the help.
I overcame this problem and help my clients do it all the time by doing both at the same time. Hell, we’re already doing multiple things at once anyway, right?
But this felt different. This was a more structured and organized approach. The first support I needed was someone to help me calm my brain down long enough for my heart to get what I really wanted.
What I found was that when I had the support of my mentor and my mastermind buddies to work through my fears that came up when I took this sort of massive action (and the insanity that ensues) I was able to blast through to the next level with greater ease.
Then I could have what I really wanted.
The time with the kids.
The stolen moments with my sweetie or nurturing myself.
What’s your reason WHY you’re ready to stop working so hard and let someone support you? Why do you want freedom? What do you really want to do?
If any of this is resonating with you, I’d love to jump on the phone with you and support you in finding out exactly what you need to take your business to the next level and I guarantee to help you map out a plan for how to pay for it along the way.
